FuelEU MARITIME  DOCUMENTS UPDATE: COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2024/2031of 26 July 2024

The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2031 establishes a standardized electronic template for monitoring plans under Regulation (EU) 2023/1805, aimed at ensuring compliance with renewable and low-carbon fuel usage in maritime transport. This regulation aligns with the EU’s broader decarbonization goals.

Key Requirements for Monitoring Plans

Shipping companies must submit a comprehensive and transparent monitoring plan documenting their fuel consumption and emissions methodology. The electronic template ensures uniformity in reporting and allows integration with existing management systems such as the ISM Code and SEEMP.

Implementation and Compliance

Once assessed, monitoring plans will be recorded in the FuelEU database, managed by the European Maritime Safety Agency. This database will facilitate regulatory oversight and enhance compliance tracking.

Conclusion

By streamlining fuel monitoring and reporting, this regulation strengthens maritime sustainability efforts. Shipping companies must align their strategies with these new standards to contribute to the EU’s green transition.
