A Quiet but Important Step for Aviation Transparency

The International Civil Aviation Organization has approved the 14th Edition of Part I of the CORSIA Central Registry Information and Data for Transparency document. At first glance, this appears to be a routine regulatory update. In reality, it reflects steady progress in strengthening the global verification framework that supports CORSIA implementation.

Expanding the Verification Network

The latest edition, approved on 17 February 2026, lists 65 verification bodies across 38 States. Over time, the registry has expanded in both number and geographic reach, demonstrating growing participation and institutional readiness.

CORSIA depends on accurate emissions monitoring and credible third party verification. By updating the list of accredited bodies, ICAO reinforces confidence that emissions data are being assessed by recognized and competent entities.

Why This Matters for Operators

Part I of the document supports Annex 16 Volume IV and is essential for implementing CORSIA. For airlines and operators, this registry determines which verification bodies are formally accepted within the framework.

An expanded and updated registry improves access to verification services, supports regulatory alignment across jurisdictions, and enhances consistency in emissions reporting. At a time when carbon market integrity is under close scrutiny, this consistency is critical.

A Sign of System Maturity

Beyond administrative adjustments, the amendment signals that the governance architecture around international aviation emissions is becoming more structured and resilient. The growing list of accredited bodies indicates deeper global engagement and stronger oversight mechanisms.

Transparency in aviation is no longer just about reporting numbers. It is about building trust in the systems that validate them.

Stakeholders who stay informed and aligned with these evolving frameworks will be better positioned as sustainability requirements continue to advance.
